Stephen Francis Harrington

ALTAMONT — Steven Francis Harrington, a United States Air Force Veteran, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015. He was 74.

Mr. Harrington was born in Fort Edward, the son of the late Renard and Dorothy (née Cadarr) Harrington. He lived in Fort Edward until he enlisted in the Air Force.

He served in Alaska at the time of the earthquake and at Buzzards Bay from 1961 to 1964.

On Aug. 8, 1964, he married the love of his life, Beverly, and they moved to Altamont.

He worked for General Electric for several years and then joined Guilderland Pump Sales and Service, Inc./Dick Ferraioli, Inc. and worked as a water well contractor until 2000.

He was a member of the Helderberg Reformed Church and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Stephanie Harrington and his son-in-law, Robert Kalinowski; his sister, Margaret Pike; his brother-in-law, John Crounse, and his wife, Kim; and his sister-in-law, Janis Berschwinger, and her husband, Leonard.

He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews: Ann Harrington, Cindy Harrington, Craig and Stacy Harrington, Chris Harrington, David and Jodi Harrington, Romy and Thomas Maynard, Leonard and Marie Durham, Merrill and Pat Durham, Loran and Kathy Chapman, Eugene and Mary Archambeault, Dorothy Belair, Steven and Kathy Hazzard, Harold Hazzard, Joseph and Pat Walkup, Robert and Jackie Walkup, Edward and Jodene Walkup, Irene Walkup, Rena and Walter Stevens, Gary Walkup, Leo and Mary Louise Russell; Fred and Linda Walkup, Kevin and Pat Walkup, Norris and Holly Pike, Christine and Joseph D'Angelico, Thomas, Beth Ann, James, Jim Harrington, David Lunt, Melody and Paul Goetz, and GJ Jones; and many grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.

In his addition to his parents, his brother Thomas, and his wife, Alvina, died before him, as did his brother Seward, and his wife, Jane; his brother Robert, and his wife, Daryl; his brother Harland, and his wife, Barbara; his brother, Harold; his sister, Ruth Walkup, and her husband, Joseph; his sister Irene Durham, and her husband, Eugene; his sister Louise Hazard, and her husband, Ray; his sister Jean Russell, and her husband, Leo; his sister Shirley Chapman, and her husband, John; his sister Carol Lunt, and her husband, Raymond; Norris Pike; three baby girls; and his nephews, John and Renard Walkup.

Calling hours were held at the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont on Oct. 21. Internment will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylverville.
