Dame to give free concert in Altamont before international competition

ALTAMONT — One of only three musicians invited from the United States to be part of the Maxence Larrieu Flute Competition, Amanda Dame, of Altamont, will be on of 62 candidates competing in this high-level international competition, taking place in Nice, France this month.

Dame is a classically trained flutist currently studying at Oberlin Conservatory.  She performs in a wide variety of musical settings, including church services, weddings, solo recitals, and the Oberlin Orchestras.  She also teaches flute lessons in Oberlin, Ohio. 

In preparation for the competition, Dame will be performing in a solo flute recital in the sanctuary of Altamont Reformed Church at 129 Lincoln Ave. in Altamont on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. She will be accompanied by her brother Andrew on piano.
