Car-seat check breaks record

Albany County broke its record last month at its Child Safety Seat Check at Crossgates Mall.  Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians inspected 155 car seats, surpassing the 2014 record of 124 car seats.

Out of the 155 car seats inspected, only five were installed correctly; 18 car seats that were deemed unsafe were replaced.

“I am happy we have been able to help many families correct what could have been a deadly mistake when it comes to installing child safety seats,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy in a release from his office.  “Reading the instructions is important when installing the seats but having a professional check the seat afterward has proven to be critical.”
