ALBANY COUNTY FAIR

Big Entries Anticipated for the Twenty-Third Annual Fair to be Held at Altamont, August 17-20, 1915

Tuesday, August 17th, will be the opening day of the Albany County fair and exposition on the grounds at Altamont, and will be given over to the entry of stock and arrangement of exhibits.

Entries in all departments are already coming in and indications show that the list will be larger and better than ever before….

A child welfare exhibit by the State Department of Health will be a special feature of the fair. The exhibit will consist of 20 panels occupying about 70 linear feet of wall space. On these panels by means of photos, cartoons, etc., are set forth the rules for the care of the baby, and the need and value of infant welfare stations.

In connection with this exhibit there is also shown a completely equipped infant welfare station occupying a space 21 x 9 feet. For use in this station, several chairs and tables are required, and, if possible to secure it, an ice box. Will some one help to secure these?

The Altamont Enterprise will be represented as usual and will have a tent near the entrance to the grounds. Everybody is invited to make our tent a visit before leaving the grounds. We shall be glad to renew the acquaintance of our subscribers during their visit at the fair. All our friends are welcome.

GLOVERSVILLE GROCERS TO HAVE ANNUAL OUTING

Automobile Trip to the Helderberg Region of Albany County Will be Made Next Wednesday.

The Retail Grocers’ association of Gloversville has planned an automobile outing this year which promises to be the most enjoyable day’s outing ever held under the auspices of the association. Some time ag, at a regular meeting of the Grocers’ association, a committee was appointed to arrange for this year’s outing. This committee after going over several scenic routes in the country, decided on the Helderberg region as the mecca for the grocers of Gloversville next Wednesday afternoon, August 11.

It is expected that fully twenty-five cars will convey the grocers and their families and placards will be displayed from each one of the autos bearing the appropriate slogan: “Gloversville Leads; Gloversville Excels,” thus informing the residents of the cities and villages through which the party passes where they are from and in addition making a good advertisement for their city.

The trip to the beautiful Helderberg region will be in the nature of an old home day for several of the grocers of Gloversville, as their homes were formerly in Albany County. The committee of arrangements consists of Messrs. Chester Van Heusen, John E. Smith and Alden Hart, which is sufficient assurance that every detail of the coming outing will be looked after in a capable and satisfactory manner.

The party will pass through Altamont about 2:30 o’clock and will probably make a short stop. They will then proceed to Warner’s Lake, their objective point. If the day should prove rainy the trip will be made the following week.
