These local students have recently distinguished themselves:

— Adam Starkman, of Slingerlands, will study abroad this summer as part of Union College’s International Programs. Starkman, who is majoring in neuroscience, will travel to China, focusing on traditional Chinese medicine, society, and its medical practices;

— Victoria H. Kocsis of Altamont, a senior at Clarkson University, majoring in liberal studies and biology and biomolecular science, received the Biology Department Outstanding Senior Award, given to the senior biology student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and contributed to the development of the biological sciences at Clarkson;

— Sarah Alloush of Guilderland was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz;

— Michael Schaffer of Schenectady was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz;
