Let the music begin!

To the Editor:

Mark your calendars as the Altamont Free Library invites everyone of all ages to our Summer Concert Series.

Once again, we will present six Tuesday evening concerts in Orsini Park beginning June 30 and ending Aug. 4.  We have put together a nice array of performers that will appeal to a wide audience of all ages.

The concerts will kick off on June 30 with Running the River in a return engagement. Be prepared for foot-stomping music with a range of vocal and instrumental styles sure to entertain.

July 7 will feature a group new to us, The Back 40 Band, which performs today’s country hits and hits of the past.   On July 14, the ever-popular Rusticator, featuring Altamont native Brig McCutcheon, will be on hand as we dedicate the evening to our area fire, police and rescue squads.

The following week, July 21, get ready to journey with Paul McCartney and the Beatles with the popular tribute band, the All Paul Show. On July 28, you’ll enjoy smooth jazz, pop, rock, and R&B with The Tommy Verrigni Trio.

Our series will end on Aug. 4 with a return engagement by Swing Shift, a swing band with male and female vocalists and a range of styles from the 1930s to the early ’50s that got us all singing last summer.

All performances will start at 7 p.m. but do come early and pick up some dinner or snacks at our local eateries or pack a picnic from home. If the weather does not cooperate, performances will be held at Bozenkill Park, which has plenty of room for all to come and enjoy the music under cover.

Our concerts are made possible in part by a grant from the village of Altamont, Sheriff Craig Apple, and pass-the-hat donations each week.

We look forward to seeing everyone once again this year.
