Dispose of flags properly

To the Editor:
Our country’s flag should not be discarded in the trash.
The American Legion Helderberg Post 977 folds flags with Boy Scouts in order to dispose of them in the proper way. Unserviceable flags can be dropped off anytime in a box at the post’s back door at 988 Altamont Boulevard in Altamont.
We invite the community to participate in the disposal ceremony on Aug. 12 at 4 p.m. Look for event information in The Enterprise.
The post also has free gun locks available that can be picked up at the back door anytime after 4 p.m.
