BOCES honors students at Schoharie High School

More than 100 Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical students from the Schoharie campus received certificates of completion and awards in June.

The ceremony at Schoharie High School marked the completion of one- and two-year programs at the school including culinary, cosmetology, commercial construction/heavy equipment, criminal justice, residential construction, manufacturing and machining technology, and automotive technology.

Many of the students are moving on to college and technical school while others are using their skills to start careers that will address the middle schools job gap — the national shortage of skilled workers.

These Berne-Knox-Westerlo students received awards:

— Alexander Curry in the Commercial Construction and Heavy Equipment Program got the SkillsUSA Award for Outstanding Member;

— Alexander Curry and Joshua Wager got the Growth in Achievement Award for the Commercial Construction and Heavy Equipment Program;

—  Jessica Rue got the Outstanding Student Award in the Criminal Justice Program; and

— Danielle Keppler got the Growth in Achievement Award in Cosmetology.
