Awards and achievements 2018

These local students have recently distinguished themselves at their college or university:

— Nicholas M. Pattison of Altamont, a member of the class of 2018 at Colby College in Maine won the Center for Small Town Jewish Life Award;

—  Natalie H. Squillace of Slingerlands has been inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society for liberal arts and sciences undergraduates. Squillace is a member of the Class of 2018 and is majoring in performance and communication arts. Squillace attended Albany Academy for Girls;

— Laura M. DiVirgilio of Voorheesville, majoring in pre-pharmacy at Western New England University in Massachusetts was inducted into the Mortar Board National Honor Society. Students in the top 35 percent of the junior class are considered eligible for the society with the membership being selected by the existing members of the previous year;

— Allie K. McMillen of Voorheesville, majoring in pre-pharmacy at Western New England University in Massachusetts was inducted into the Mortar Board National Honor Society. Students in the top 35 percent of the junior class are considered eligible for the society with the membership being selected by the existing members of the previous year;

— Allison J. Reiner of Altamont was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. Reiner, a Guilderland High School graduate, is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in statistics and biology. Reiner attended Guilderland High School;

—  Alexandra Ladopoulo of Schenectady was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, for the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors. Ladopoulo was initiated at The Sage Colleges;

— Catrin Miskewicz of Delmar, a student at the State University of New York college at Oneonta, studied Colombian music during trip to Cartagena in May. Miskewicz is studying the music industry at SUNY Oneonta,
