Masquerade ball to honor Maguire, Grondahl

To the Editor:

The Guilderland Library Foundation is pleased to announce “A Novel Affair, Chapter III: The Masquerade Ball,” on Sept. 29, 2018, at the Albany Country Club.

The masquerade ball theme pays homage to our two honorees, one who has created a new world of fantasy and the other whose reporting has opened our eyes to the many characters who make up our community. Gregory Maguire’s “Wicked” put a new spin on one of our favorite tales, and Paul Grondahl’s articles and books chronicle our times. We invite attendees to join in the spirit of the masquerade and come dressed as their favorite characters.

The only social event of Guilderland Library’s year, our annual "Novel Affair" is also the Foundation’s primary fundraising event. At a cost of $75, tickets may be purchased starting June 15 at www.guilderlandlibrary.org/foundation.

We hope you will be able to join us. These events are always fun and an excellent way to meet friends and neighbors. Four tickets to “Wicked” on Broadway will be auctioned, as well as many other interesting items and events.

The Foundation raises funds to provide financial support to the library for programs and improvements that the tax levy is insufficient to cover. During the past few years we have hosted Ron Darling, Marty Appel, Pulitzer Prize winning author Dr. David Oshinsky, and most recently Peter Golden.

Other than private receptions, these are always offered at no cost to the public. Our library provides a vital resource to everyone in Guilderland.

Please plan to attend. It promises to be another fun evening!
