County nursing home wins award

ALBANY COUNTY — The Albany County Nursing Home and Residential Healthcare Facility has been honored with the 2018 Bronze National Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living for its commitment to improving services for local seniors and residents with disabilities.

The Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award represents one of three levels of the National Quality Award Program that acknowledges localities across the United States making clear efforts to bring higher quality care to its people based on measurable targets.

The Albany County facility is tasked with providing long-term care to those in community who need it most, including those with mental health diagnoses, behavioral problems and advanced dementia, and this award shows it has developed goals for improving its services and ways of achieving success, according to a release from the office of the county executive, Daniel McCoy.

Four facilities in New York State were honored with the Bronze Award for 2018; there are 37 current recipients of the award throughout the state. Bronze Award recipients will receive the Silver Award after they are able to do an extensive assessment of their approaches and performance measures that they have already established.

AHCA/NCAL will present the award to Albany County at its 69th Annual Convention and Exposition in San Diego, California on Oct. 7.
