To the Editor:

Over 20 projects were completed on New Scotland Kiwanis Town-Wide Volunteer Day on May 7! From cleaning a portion of the Vly Creek and heavy grounds work at two local cemeteries to helping several seniors with yard work and window cleaning, the annual “neighbors helping neighbors” event was a success for all involved.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out and spent a few hours helping your neighbors on a beautiful Saturday. We hope you enjoyed your day as well.

We have many people to thank. Thank you to Supervisor Doug LaGrange, town board members, town staff, Susan Kidder, Jeff Pine, Ken Guyer, and the dedicated staff at the town’s highway department for their help. Thank you to the village of Voorheesville staff for providing resources and volunteer efforts. Special thanks to the Moore Family and Porter family for their in-kind donations.

Thanks to the barbecue crew — Patty Snyder, Saul Abrams, and Jim Hladun. A big thank-you to the tireless and dedicated Volunteer Day committee members — Melissa Faustel, Rich and Joanne Porter, Lance and Bruce Moore, Bridget McManus, Dan Byrnes, Matt Childs, and Joe and Katherine Sapienza.

Thank you as well to our sponsors — Stewart’s Shops, Falvo’s Meat Shoppe, Hannaford, and Price Chopper. For anyone I didn’t mention — thank you, too! We couldn’t have had such a wonderful event without you.
