Communication is a major issue between BKW schools and community

To the Editor:

I would like to thank Berne-Knox-Westerlo residents for supporting me by signing my petition and giving me the opportunity to run for the BKW School Board on Tuesday, May 17.

I am a lifelong resident of the Hilltowns, a 1971 BKW graduate, Hudson Valley Community College graduate, and an United States Army veteran. I have five children who all attended and graduated from BKW. I am retired from Verizon and am currently employed by New York State Department of Tax and Finance.

I am running for a position on the BKW School Board because our children are the future leaders. I believe they should receive a quality education but it should be one we are able to afford. Taxes are ever-increasing and we have community members on fixed incomes that have difficulty meeting their financial demands.

Our district needs to come together and re-evaluate how money is spent. I am confident I can be an asset because at Hudson Valley Community College I studied banking, insurance, and real estate and in addition my family had businesses in the community.

Communication, in my opinion, is a major issue between the BKW schools and the community. I will encourage all stakeholders to have a better means of communication with all community members.

Please, I encourage you to vote on May 17 to give me the opportunity to work for you and have all our voices heard.
