Guilderville girls break records, post results

Guilderville swimmers display their records on Wednesday before putting them on the board at the Voorheesville natatorium. The swimmers are, from left, in front, Erin Callahan and Belen Marriaga, and, in back, Kasey Keaney and Stephanie Erickson.

To the Editor:

This year, the Guilderville girls’ swimming and diving team purchased a record board to display in the Voorheesville high school natatorium. Through the generosity of many area businesses and families, the boys’ and girls’ teams can celebrate the top performances of talented swimmers from both Guilderland and Voorheesville.

In fact, this year’s girls’ team broke six records, including the 200 individual medley record dating back to 1991.

The team is made up of swimmers from Guilderland — both Guilderland High School (GHS) and Farnsworth Middle School (FMS) — and Voorheesville’s Clayton A. Bouton High School (VHS).

Here is a list of the new 2015 girls’ team records:

— 200 Medley Relay at 1:50.88: Caroline Conforti (GHS),  Kasey Keaney (FMS), Jane Sherwin (GHS), and Jordyn Sommo (GHS);

— 200 Individual Medley at 2:10.75: Caroline Conforti (GHS);

— 100 Butterfly at 1:00.54: Belen Marriaga (GHS);

— 100 Breaststroke at 1:08.77: Kasey Keaney (FMS); and

— 400 Free Relay at 3:38.40: Stephanie Erickson (VHS), Erin Callahan (GHS), C. Conforti (GHS), and B. Marriaga (GHS).

Also, a pool record  of 1:53.20 was set in the 200 Medley Relay by  Caroline Conforti (GHS), Kasey Keaney (FMS), Jane Sherwin (GHS), and Belen Marriaga (GHS).

The Guilderville Girls’ Swimming and Diving Booster Club would like to thank the following sponsors for the record board:
