40-year fan gets her day on "The Price is Right"

ROTTERDAM — Lisa Morini Lorenz crossed an item off of her bucket list when she appeared on a game show earlier this week.

Lorenz was a contestant on “The Price is Right,” an experience she described as “surreal.”

She’s been watching the show for 40 years and said she always wanted to be on it.

Tickets are available for free online for people who are willing to spend the money to travel to Los Angeles, California, where it is filmed.

Lorenz and her husband decided to make a trip out of it. Her episode was filmed in January and just aired on Wednesday.

Though they already had tickets, they had to wait for a long time outside of the studio, Lorenz said.

“We probably waited for four to five hours, filling out paperwork and being interviewed,” she said.

Lorenz said, once inside the studio, the atmosphere was very different from the way it is portrayed on television.

“It’s a small space and it’s very loud,” she said.

Lorenz was the first contestant called up, and she won the chance to go up on stage by bidding closest to the retail price, without going over, of two outdoor heat lamps.

“Drew Carey was very nice,” she said of the show’s host.

Lorenz did not win her game or the prize offered, which was a hot tub.

It was worth it, though, for the experience, she said.
