Thanks for helping animals in need

Toys for pets, handmade under the tutelage of Guilderland Wildlife Rehabilitator Jean Simmons, are displayed by, from left, Chuck Monson, Jeremy Hammond, and Alexandra Monson.

GUILDERLAND — Thank you to the Guilderland Public Library and the many young (and older) participants who volunteered their time and talents to make pet toys.

The youngsters were naturals, but some of the adults, myself included, struggled with the “braiding” process.

Thanks to Ashleigh Whitfield who organized the outing and to Jean Simmons, Guilderhaven wildlife rehabilator, the evening was fun and successful. It is through our caring community that Guilderhaven is able to continue our work.

Thank you again to all who came or dropped off food, blankets, towels, and toys.
